Position Overview:

As a Product Designer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the direction and vision of our product design strategy for SMS Magic. You will be responsible for driving the design process, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving the creation of exceptional products with a great customer experience. 

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership Style: 

The individual is expected to adopt a collaborative and inclusive leadership style. They will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including product managers, engineers, and junior designers, to define design goals and requirements. Furthermore, they will provide constructive feedback to junior designers, fostering their growth and development.

Team Management: 

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and driving the end-to-end product design process, indicating a hands-on approach to managing the design team. They will also conduct design reviews and offer feedback to junior designers, demonstrating a mentoring and coaching role.

Product Design: 

The main focus of this role will be on product design, where the individual will champion a user-centered design approach. They will advocate for the importance of empathy, usability, and accessibility in all design decisions. The candidate will play a key role in the entire product design process, from conceptualization to implementation, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and intuitive user experiences.

They will be expected to develop and maintain a deep understanding of the target users, their needs, and pain points, leveraging user research, data, and industry best practices to inform design decisions. Additionally, the individual will create and present design concepts, wireframes, prototypes, and visual assets to communicate ideas and gather feedback from stakeholders, incorporating their input into the design iterations.

The candidate will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining design standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency, efficiency, and a cohesive user experience across all products. They will need to stay up to date with emerging design trends, tools, and technologies and identify opportunities to integrate them into the design process.

In addition to collaborating with the engineering team to ensure the feasibility of design solutions, the individual will also provide support during the implementation phase. Furthermore, they will act as a design evangelist within the organization, promoting the value and impact of design thinking and user-centered design principles.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Product Designer, UX Designer, or a similar role for at least 12-15 years.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating a track record of successfully delivering user-centered design solutions across multiple platforms and devices.
  • Expert knowledge of design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools like InVision or Framer.
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, information architecture, and interaction design.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team of designers.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate design concepts and rationale to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in collaborating with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to define product requirements and translate them into exceptional user experiences.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in product design and user experience.
  • A passion for continuous learning, growth, and a desire to stay ahead of the curve in design methodologies and industry developments.
